Public Health Update for Parents – Children’s A&E South Tyneside

By A Hindes4th March 2022

IMPORTANT UPDATE FOR PARENTS

9am until 9pm opening hours for South Tyneside Urgent Care for Children service

With effect from Monday 7 March, the nurse-led service at South Tyneside District Hospital will be open every day from 9am until 9pm.  The temporary change has been necessary due to unforeseen staffing challenges.  Parents are being reassured that the service will continue to be available for 12 hours every day to see and treat the vast majority of children who attend hospital with urgent, but not life threatening, problems.

The temporary change means the service will open one hour later at 9am (instead of 8am) and close one hour earlier each day at 9pm (instead of 10pm).  Please see attached updated NHS information leaflet.

CORONAVIRUS TESTING

By A Hindes16th March 2021
Hi all,
There has been a lot of confusion between the different types of tests. If in doubt, please contact the nursery office on 0191 4287656 between 8.45am-3.45pm or out of hours email jreay@thesuehedleynurseryschool.co.uk

Lateral flow device testing
This is available to all ADULTS in your child’s household, childcare bubble and support bubble. It is NOT to be used by nursery children and adults should only use it as part of regular testing when you have NO symptoms.
Lateral flow tests can be collected from your local test site. Our nearest site is Jarrow Library.
PCR test
This test is to be used when an adult or child is displaying symptoms (high temperature, cough or loss of taste/smell). The whole household and support bubble and childcare bubble needs to self isolate until a NEGATIVE result is received. Your child may then return to nursery. If you receive a POSITIVE result, please follow the current track and trace guidance.
You can book a PCR test online https://www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test or by ringing 119.
Thanks
Amy Hindes
